Whimsical Wednesday

Welcome to another edition of Whimisical Wings & Things and what’s more whimsical than Turtles dressed up to party!

My design layout is inspired by an old Global Design Sketch #GFP526 for my upcoming team meeting card share.

I’m getting inky the Turtle-y Awesome suite.

Seriously how cute are these 3 little guys? They are all ready to party at an upcoming birthday of someone special in order to make their birthday Turtle-y Awesome!

No Line Watercolour Technique

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday. Today I am sharing the no line watercolour technique.

My card design was inspired by a couple challenges. The Color Dare colour challenge
#686 I’ve chosen Bubble Bath, Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade with a wee bit of green as a natural option.

The Sunday Stamps sketch #SSC377 - I have swapped the elements orientation from horizontal to vertical.

I’m getting inky with the Fragrant Layers Bundle, Lovely Stripes embossing folder, Splash of Sparkles DSP and the Three Banner punch, Aqua painters and from my stash some Gold Twine and Pearls.

No Line Watercolour technique process video

Tips:
  • Make sure to stamp off your image base so that the lines are just faint enough to see but will disappear when you add your water colours.
  • Start with your lightest watercolour and add in more colour as needed.
Such a pretty delightful result.

I think I might try the same technique but with blends markers instead of the watercolour to see the difference.

Masculine Monday Vibes

Welcome to another edition of Masculine Monday vibes - a chance for me to create cards for the men in my life!

I have been loving seeing all the examples of the new Gears & Texture bundle that I have decided to get inky with the retired Geared Up Garage and paired it with the current Earthen Tones metallic paper, Streaked Dots and Three Banner punch and a colour palette of Smoky Slate, Lost Lagoon and Lemon Lime Twist. Also pulled out my old distress tool for the edges of my card.

Perfect card for either a birthday or Father’s Day. I love the grungy distressed edges and I flicked tiny splotches with Lost Lagoon and Lemon Lime Twist from my markers along with some bronze acrylic ink for that grunge garage vibe.

Slimline Sunday Funday

Welcome to another edition of Slimline Sunday! Today’s card design was inspired by playing along to a few challenges to get the creative MOJO flowing!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenges and their sketch challenge #663 which I have stretched into a slimline design.

INKspirational word prompt Shine/Shiny and The Time Out Challenge All that Glitters #304  inspired the gold foil and twine choices.

Festive Friday’s National Tulip Day #FF0200. I’ve incorporated Bubble Bath pink from the red family, Timid Tiger orange, Daffodil Delight yellow, Stone & Vine folder for the  dry embossing, a slimline card, Tulips from the Easter Time ephemera  and Timeless Tulips stamps and a Happy Birthday sentiment.

I’m getting inky with some new releases Splash of Sparkles DSP, Easter Time Mix and Match ephemera, Stone & Vine embossing folder, Gold metallic paper, and from my stash Timeless Tulips stamp set, the PinkFresh Slimline Stitched dies, pearls and gold twine.

The Splash of Sparkle DSP is so pretty - the camera doesn’t do it justice. A pretty palette of Azure Afternoon, Balmy Blue, Bubble Bath, Daffodil Delight, gold, Highland Heather, iridescent, Lemon Lolly, Pool Party, Pretty in Pink, Shy Shamrock and Timid Tiger.

The final result turned out so pretty!

I don’t know about you but am so ready tor spring flowers and smell of fresh cut grass - once the holidays are over I am so done with winter.

Scrappy Saturday

Welcome to another edition of Scrappy Saturday!

Today’s layout was inspired by Sketches in Thyme over on Facebook

I’m getting inky with the Fragrant Layers bundle, December’s POM True Blue Florals DSP, Balmy Blue and Night of Navy blends, Alphabet À la Mode dies and retired Little Letters dies and pearls.

Traditional 12x12 layout - this sketch was a lovely way to showcase all the DSP patterns in the True Blue Florals. I opted to keep my floral images neutral in white to help them pop and compliment the paper. Space for a 4x6 photo and a 3x4 photo.

Coordinating Pocket Page has space for 3 more 4x6 photos and then showcasing some more of the pretty papers using up some of my scraps from my traditional layout. I stamped and fussy cut the large floral focal image from the Fragrant Layers along with some of the small flower dies to embellish the 4x3 pockets.

This ‘good times’ layout will be perfect to showcase some outdoor adventures with our granddaughter.

Leaning towards doing black and white photos for it. What do you think?

Double Front Flip Flap Fold

Welcome to another edition of Fancy & Funky Fold Friday. Today I am sharing a fun double front flip flap fold that’s perfect for when you have a big group needing to sign the card!

My colour palette choice was inspired by the Global Design projects colour challenge #GDP529 Misty Moonlight, Afternoon Azure and Balmy Blue. A perfect reason to showcase the Blue Florals DSP from Decembers product of the month.
I’m getting inky with the Fragrant Layers Bundle, Triple Banner punch, December’s POM Blue Florals DSP and retired Stitched So Sweetly Rectangle dies and some Pearl embellishments.

Putting it all together - process video

Love the final design - it looks like a normal A2 fold with a surprise flip flap behind the front focal image!

Lots of space for adding messages for the receiver 💕

Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday. A chance for me to combine old favourites from my stash with new products.

I am getting inky with the current online exclusive Fragrant Layers bundle and have paired it with the retired Number of Years bundle and the Stitched So Sweetly dies and an older Cuttlebug birthday embossing folder.

I’ve played with the TGIF challenges colour palette for #tgif558

A perfect card sent off to my Great Aunt who’s turned 105 this week. I chose to add lots of texture with the embossed birthday wishes, the flowers have both card and vellum for different sensations in my design as her sight is failing her so having lots of textures will help her to feel and imagine it in her mind to enjoy it.

I hope I am blessed to live as long and rewarding life as sh has’

Whimsical Wednesday

Welcome to another edition of Whimsical Wednesday - a chance to channel my inner child with fun designs.

I made this adorable card using the emboss resist I showcased last week. Getting inky this time with the Woolly Friends bundle, All in a Row embossing folder and some iridescent gems and retired green bakers twine.

I love the Woolly Friends bundle and perfect for a welcome cutie card for a baby shower!

Cute little wobble head make it even more fun!

Stained Glass technique

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday. Today I am sharing the Stained Glass technique.

Card design was inspired by playing along with the following challenges:

For my colour palette shout out to TGIF Challenge for their Balmy Blue, Smoky Slate and Highland Heather #tgif558

Inspired by for their sketch challenge  #IB369

And Just Us Girls playing again with the cover plate challenge #JUG804

Playing with the new online exclusive Fragrant Layers, Stone and Vine 3D embossing folder, Triple Banner punch, ink pads and blends, pearl embellishments and retired Stitched Sweetly Rectangle dies.

Materials to prep - die cut floral cover plate framed with the Stitched so Sweetly rectangle, vellum cut with the Stitched so Sweetly, card base and layering mats all die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly rectangle. Envelope to stamp coordinating image cause friends don’t let friends send envelopes out naked 🤣

Trick for creating a frame that is perfect for the stain glass technique - double die cut your cover plate with a rectangle just slightly larger.
Also when cutting your layers stack all layers and centre the next smallest rectangle die on top and run through machine all together. It will likely not cut all layers but will make an impression on all layers so you can than line up the die perfectly for the run through of each mat.

Stained glass putting it all together process video

An alternative option, which I will definitely use next time to save time and give a crisper look to my stain glass, is to line up the cover plate die cut and the vellum layer and than flip over and then you can colour your vellum from the backside so you can see exactly where you want your colours verses my first attempt here at guessing 🤣

The end result is stunning.

You can even put a tea light behind the vellum to give a warm glow at night!

Masculine Monday

Welcome to another edition of Masculine Monday. Today’s card design is inspired by a few challenges.

Inspired by … the Snowman Party #ISB369

CAS on Friday snowflake prompt #CAS324 - my snowflakes joined tougher to create a snowy scene.

Colorful Options and their wintery blue snowy mood board and colour palette

He’s just the cutest little snowman? The Festive Friends stamp set and the Swirly Wave embossing folder pair so nicely together. Little blue ribbon and blue traditional sequins dots just finish him off.
