Whimsical Wings & Things Wednesday

Welcome to another edition of Whimsical Wings & Things Wednesday. Today I am sharing another old favourite from my fairy collection. Nichola from Wags & Whiskers Rubber Stamps.

I’ve also chose to pair my fairy with some other old and new favourites. Poinsettia Petals stamp set, mini corrugated embossing folder and the Greetings for You ephemera sentiments. Some Wink of Stella, silver twine and rhinestone embellishments. Used a couple snowflake kisses I had left over from another project.

Isn’t she just gorgeous? A lovely holiday greeting for a fairy lover.

I carried the Poinsettia theme into the inside of the card as well as the coordinating envelope. Say it with me “Friends don’t let friends send their envelopes out naked!”

Technique Tuesday - Chalkboard fun

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday - today I am exploring the fun of chalkboards both traditional white chalk and the neon glow chalk!

My colour palette is the Color Throwdown challenge #ctd844. I have chosen Pool Party, Pretty in Pink and Lemon Lolly to play along.

Materials wise I have chosen to play with the Elegant Pine Snowflakes stamp set, Christmas Word Collage embossing folder, Greetings for All ephemera,  black and gold twine and rhinestone gems. White ink for the chalkboard version and Versamark and white embossing powder and blends in my color palette for the neon chalkboard.

For the traditional Chalkboard it’s a very quick and easy technique - you simply stamp with white ink on the black background and you can add some white ink to a tissue and gently rub on the chalkboard to give the look of a board that’s been wiped of chalk and new chalk added.

For the Neon Chalkboard instead of the white ink you want to use Versamark to stamp your images and sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat set. Once heat set you than colour your “chalk” with bright colours to give that neon chalkboard look.

I love the Greetings for You ephemera set for the black and white sentiments as they are perfect with this technique as you can add colour to the white lettering to make a neon chalkboard sentiment.

An extra bonus card from the scrap I used when testing my white ink pad to ensure it was juicy and not in need of drinking. Waste not want not!

Meowing on Monday

Welcome to the first edition of Meowing on Monday - a project featuring our furry feline friends!

Today’s card design was inspired by the sketch #712 over at Freshly Made Sketches.

The colour palette challenge #475 from over at Hand Stamped Sentiments to use Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Secret Sea.

I’m playing with retired Nine Lives stamp set and cat punch, the Spotlight on Nature dies for my two circles, the Jolly Santa Hat builder punch with glitter paper. I also used a Beager White acrylic paint marker for hand drawing the kitties features on my Secret Sea cat. A silver ephemera sentiment and silver twine and some rhinestones for bling!

I’ve used a piece of Brusho background that I had left over from playing with the medium for a technique post. It’s hard to get a good photo of the pops of colour created.

Love how the design elements came together to create this fun “Be Merry” feline holiday card - perfect for one of the cat lovers on my Xmas card list!

Socially Scrappy Saturday

Welcome to another edition of Socially Scrappy Saturday - getting creative while catching up on my scrapbooking!

My 12x12 traditional layout was inspired by playing along over at Creative Scrapbooker Facebook groups November sketch. I am really going to miss the monthly inspiration from this magazine as it closes its doors at end of the month!

My colour palette was chosen by playing along over at Lasting Memories November colour challenge #LM774. I have chosen to use Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze and Old Olive with hints of Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Pecan Pie and gold foil.

I’ve chosen to get inky with some new goodies from the Online Exclusives over at Stampin’ Up!  The Friendly Foliage and Words of Beauty stamp and dies as well as the Lasting Linen background stamp. For DSP I have showcased the Timeless Plaid 6x6 paper and Gold foil DSP which was perfect combo for this colour palette challenge.

Love the warm Fall vibes that came together with this design of accent leaves in gold, mossy meadow and Cajun craze  - going to be perfect for some Family Fall hike photos.

Carried the theme over to a Pocket Page -  room for 3 of the 4x6 photo and two small 3x3 cropped photos and will add some journalling.

The Lasting Linen background stamp provides some awesome texture and pairs well the plaid theme! I love the Just Because dies and Cajun Craze and Gold dots!

Funky Folds Friday Blog Pop - Pop Up Corner Card

Welcome to the Funky Folds Blog Hop. We are a group of like-minded papercrafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gate fold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless.

All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold and I've made a Pop Up Corner Card featuring the All Is Calm All is Bright kit card from Stampin' Up! It is an adorable kit with soft pastel palette of Basic Beige, Gray Granite, Lost Lagoon, Pecan Pie, Pool Party, Pretty in Pink and White.

The fold is a quick one that was pretty easy to bring together:

Measurements:
Designer Series Paper of Choice: 5 3/4" x 7" I have used retired Winter Meadow DSP
Coloured Cardstock Colour #1: 5 1/2" x 4 `1/4" and 2 7/8" x 4 1/8"
I have used Pool Party
Coloured Cardstock Colour #2 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and 2 3/4" x 4"
I have used Lost Lagoon
White/Vanilla/Beige Colour #3 2 3/4 x 4" mat for insert for signature and 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" for card front
I have used Whisper White

Score the DSP at 2 inch mark along the length and again along the width. Tip - if your DSP has images that need to face up than make sure to orient your paper so that that intersecting score lines will be in the top left corner and your images on paper are pointing up.

Fold the Corner down to where the score lines so that the score lines all line up neatly on both sides and then burnish. Fold the two inner diagonal score lines inward to form the corner pop up square in top left corner.

Take the 2 large coloured cardstock pieces and mat the 5 1/8" x 4 1/8" onto the 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and than mount the DSP portion onto this.

Pop open and mount the 2 1/4" x 3 1/3" insert so that it is up in the left hand corner so it wont show when the card is assembled.

Take the 2 3/4" x 4" coloured cardstock and mount onto the 2 7/8" x 4 1/4" coloured cardstock.

Using your White/Vanilla/Beige 2 3/4" x 4" card front  decorate your card front as desired. Once card front is complete than mount onto the coloured mat.

Card front is than adhered to the top left corner of the card front onto the top corner square pop out.

Your card is complete and ready for sending out to someone special!

Up next is Tammy Fite USA and I'm keen to see what she has created this month.

If you love to make cards with creative folds and would like to join in with our monthly Funky Folds Blog Hop, you are welcome to head on over to our community group on Facebook to be part of the fun.

Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday where I play with my old favourites from my stash.

Today’s card design was inspired by a few challenges.

The Color Dare had a fun colour palette I chose Gorgoeus Grape / Highland Heather and Granny Apple green.

INKspirational challenge #353 of seeing stars promoted me to pull out star themed goodies!

And the layout sketch over at Build Your Stash Holiday Cards #BYSHC63 - love that their sketches include estimated measurements as a helpful guide.

I’m playing with the retired So Many Stamps & Dies and a Recollection Celestial embossing folder and some gold twine. I’ve paired with the current Greetings For You ephemera and Traditional Sparkling Sequins.

Love how the final design came together. The purple and green is a fun combo and the stars are perfect for a Christmas card. I used the brayer to ink up the embossed stars so that the white stars pop and add fun texture. I inlaid the purple on purple stars using the Gorgeous Grape for the swirl layer and inlaid stars in Highland Heather. I’ve added Wink of Stella on the stars and finished off with gold sparkling sequins. The gold sentiment was brayered over with the Highland Heather to help tie in the colour palette.

I end up with an extra star cluster in the reversed purples so whipped up a second card with some scraps of Irresistible Designs DSP with Highland Heather brayered to colour it. The Greetings for All ephemera which has black and white sentiments which I coloured the white with my Highland Heather ink to tie it in.
