Sketchy Saturday

Welcome to another edition of Sketchy Saturday. Today I am sharing a 12x12 traditional double layout inspired by playing along with a couple challenges.

Left hand sketch inspiration is from Sketches in Thyme challenge #703 from Rochelle Spears.

Right hand sketch is inspiration from Stick It Down Scrapbook & Cardmaking April Sketch.

Getting inky with the sneak peek of the Scenic Coast suite coming May and Splashes of Sparkle DSP, Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry and Timid Tiger inks and paired them with some old favourites in the Unforgettable Times Mix and Match ephemera pack, On Film and Colourful Seasons dies, umbrella builder and scallop tag punch, sunset and brick stencils, silver twine and silver metallic marker.

Love the end result that came together for a fun coordinated double layout from a day at the beach.

Left hand page showcases several the gorgeous dies and paper in the Scenic Coast suite and the wee camera and Polaroid frame from the On Film dies. Unforgettable title is from the Ephemera pack sponged with a bit of Timid Tiger to blend with the paper.

Right hand page carries over some of the Scenic Coast suite with the seagulls and the Colourful Seasons beach chairs, table and drinks, umbrella builder for the umbrellas and Time Together title is from the ephemera pack sponged with Timid Tiger.

Technique Tuesday Paper Piecing

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday. Today I am playing with the Paper Piecing Technique. This is a perfect technique for anyone who loves puzzles!

My design was inspired by playing along with a few challenges. Over at Sunday Stamps the have a gorgeous colour palette I have chosen the Petal Pink, Old Olive and Secret Sea. Stampin’ Fancy Friday on Instagram has a Blooming Florals challenge and over on Facebook Stick It Down has a sketch challenge that worked great with a framed floral image to paper piece with!

I am getting inky with the Fragrant Layers bundle, Forever Plaid embossing folder, Triple Banner punch and pearl dots.

Paper piecing tutorial - it’s really easy. Tips I would offer especially if trying with the same die is to work with one colour at a time and try very hard to keep the paper pieces in the die as you place as it can get tricky to see which fits wear when the pieces are tiny! So I cut mine and then flipped the die over while holding it on the plate and gently slide the die off the plate while keeping the pieces in tact and than removed them one at a time with my tweezers.

Quick video option.

Love how the final Hello card design came together. A perfect card that can be used for just about any occasion.

PS I didn’t waste the frames pieces from the petal pink and old olive colours and will use them for another days project.
