Lasting Memories Guest Design challenge

Welcome to another edition of Socially Scrappy on Sunday.

Today I am a guest designer over at Lasting Memories Layout Challenge blog

We are revisiting old favourites that we loved from past challenges or ones we missed getting to play with the first time around. There are so many to choose I have again chosen two challenges for my inspiration. Both are from 2024 and I combined them into one challenge #LM779. So I’ve taken inspiration from the circles in the original sketch and the two photo layout but have swapped in snowflakes for a winter vibe as well as the blue colour palette challenge which is perfect for when we have those winter blues. ❄️

I’m getting inky with current Stampin’ Up! product Elegant Pine Snowflake stamps and dies as well as retired Swirly Bird dies, silver metallic twine and a silver ink pen and some rhinestones for my design elements.

Traditional 12x12 layout a nice clean and simple design with lots of textures, splatter and sparkles!

It’s going to be perfect layout for some winter family fun photos for the grand daughters scrapbook memories.

Coordinated pocket page has room for lots of snowy fun photos with the Elegant Pine Snowflake stamps carried over.

If you choose to play along with my challenge please make sure to go to the Lasting Memories Layout challenges blog and use their linky for todays post.

Guest Designing for Last Memories

Welcome to a special edition of Socially Scrappy but on a Sunday.

Switching up a bit this week and next to accommodate the honour of being a Guest Designer over at Lasting Memories Layout Challenges. Their challenges go live on Sundays.

Today’s #LM779 challenge is inspired by a choosing two former 2025 challenges that jumped out at me and combining them into one new challenge. So if you want to play along please use inspiration elements from the top sketch as well as choose a tic tac toe line to incorporate into your design for the little extra double the inspiration double the fun.

I’ve gotten inky with some retired goodies from my stash to play along. Started with a 12x12 sheet of Vicki Boutin Ready to Use Mixed Media paper. Added in Painted Love Gold foil stickers, White Tea Lace doilies, Love Blossoms embellishment kit, scalloped and regular heart punches, wood ephemera sentiment words, unbranded gold twine and a Beager Acrylic Art Paint Pen in Gold.

For my traditional 12x12 layout I was inspired by the circle vibe from the original sketch so chose a pretty circle paper from my mixed media pack.  I than decided to go for a full card in Tic Tac Toe challenge - so have metal elements in the foil and paper clip, 2 photos, banners, gold, a doily, wood in my hearts and sentiment, a tag, fussy cut the foil elements on the tag and finished off with some vellum in the banner and heart.

My coordinating pocket page I used the Swirly Bird stamp set to create some 4x3 DSP and pulled in colours Azure Afternoon, Pretty and Pink and Lemon Lolly to coordinate with the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media 12x12 page starter. And pulled in some of the wooden hearts, gold foil and a doily. Left room for 3 photos.

Please pop over to Lasting Memories to see what all the other designers have created for inspiration and if you want to play along add your project to the linky tool on the bottom of the #LM779 Lasting Memories blog post!

Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday where I play with my old favourites from my stash.

Today’s card design was inspired by a few challenges.

The Color Dare had a fun colour palette I chose Gorgoeus Grape / Highland Heather and Granny Apple green.

INKspirational challenge #353 of seeing stars promoted me to pull out star themed goodies!

And the layout sketch over at Build Your Stash Holiday Cards #BYSHC63 - love that their sketches include estimated measurements as a helpful guide.

I’m playing with the retired So Many Stamps & Dies and a Recollection Celestial embossing folder and some gold twine. I’ve paired with the current Greetings For You ephemera and Traditional Sparkling Sequins.

Love how the final design came together. The purple and green is a fun combo and the stars are perfect for a Christmas card. I used the brayer to ink up the embossed stars so that the white stars pop and add fun texture. I inlaid the purple on purple stars using the Gorgeous Grape for the swirl layer and inlaid stars in Highland Heather. I’ve added Wink of Stella on the stars and finished off with gold sparkling sequins. The gold sentiment was brayered over with the Highland Heather to help tie in the colour palette.

I end up with an extra star cluster in the reversed purples so whipped up a second card with some scraps of Irresistible Designs DSP with Highland Heather brayered to colour it. The Greetings for All ephemera which has black and white sentiments which I coloured the white with my Highland Heather ink to tie it in.

Scrapbook Nerd Sketch Challenge

Having fun this week playing along with the Scrapbook Nerd & Friends Sketch challenge by the lovely Milena!

I just can not get enough of the Picket Fences BFF My Tribe stamp set! So many uses for this stamp set ... I think they would be perfect for a bride to be to use to make as their 'Please join by bride tribe' invites for bridesmaids!

Picket Fence - My Tribe Stamp
I paired it with leftover scraps from the lovely Vicki Boutin Wildflower & Honey patterned paper! I love these grid papers because they are prefect for both pocket scrapbooking AND quick card making!

Wildflower & Honey Mingle Paper - 718813522441

I just love how it came together. I added the sentiment 'We are Better Together' from the Altenew Sentiment set Better Together. I am kicking myself for being a lazy stamper and not pulling out my stamperatus to stamp the sentiment because I did not get the crisp stamped sentiment that I wanted in my first try nor my second flip it over and try again so had to choose the best of the two rather than waste paper ... alas one of the ways you know it is hand made is those little imperfections!

Scrapbook Nerd Sketch Challenge!

Margaret here guest designing for the Scrapbook Nerds and Friends

My turn to play along with this weeks sketch by Milena - card edition! If you want to come play along you can join us on Facebook!

I had so much fun with this one I made two different takes on it!

This was the perfect sketch to use up some scraps from my stash along with some of the Vicki Boutin paper and stickers for this little whimsical 'love notes' card!

My second card instead of using scraps I did some stenciling with my Concord & 9th faceted gems stencil for the 'lines' ... make sure to check out the line over on the Nerds website

If you have not gotten yourself some Picket Fences blending brushes from the shop - you must! They are perfect for stenciling!

 03.03.20_TH_SHAREABLE_PROMOTION_US
I have created a nice clean simple any occasion card with a tiny pop of color on my daisies đź’• I used the Ornate Layers die for the black background. Stamped with versamark. colored the leaves in solid with a versamark pen and than embossed it with white emboss powder. I coloured the stems and the middle of the flowers with Old Olive and Daffodil  Stampin' Blends.

Don’t toss your scraps!

I am back with another challenge from over at Scrapbook Nerds and Friends featuring the Concord and 9th Birthday Basics turnabout stamp set available on their website

I had a little scrap leftover from my last 100th Birthday card I made earlier this month!

My motto is never throw out your scraps because I used it to make this adorable second birthday card!

Paired the scrap with some sponged glitter paper, Nuvo drops and Wink of Stella for a quick and simple sparkly card!

Scrapbook Nerd Challenge

For this weeks Scrapbook Nerd and Friends challenge I created this card!

This card challenge gave me a chance to play with the Vicki Boutin Texture Paste, her colour kaleidoscope- Botanical Stencil 3 pack and combined with her Wildflower & Honey - Mingle DSP which are available on the Scrapbook Nerd website!
These 12x 12 mingle pages are awesome for both scrapbooking as well as cardmaking! One piece of designer series paper can bring you 6 or more focal points for your projects!

For this card I cut the 4 x6 heart section out and than cut it down to 3x4 size to make 2 little heart focal points for the card. They are mounted on a blue cardstock to form a frame for them.
I than used the stencil on vanilla cardstock with the Vicki Boutin textured paste. Scoop and spread a thin layer with a palette tool. Let dry before assembling your project.

For my sentiment I paired it with the Joy die from the Concord and 9th Joyful Tiles bundle cut out in red foil cardstock.

Perfect quick and simple less than 10 minute card for you letting your loved one know they bring you joy this Valentines Day!

Scrapbook Nerd Design Team Challenge

Another card showcasing how the Vicki Boutin Wildflower & Honey Mingle paper can be used not only for Scrapbookers but cardmakers as well!

These sheets are awesome for when you need a quick card although don’t rush the stamping. I was silly and didn’t use my Stamp positioner and when I needed to restamp my sentiment to get a clear image it didn’t line up perfectly on me so it’s not as crisp as I could have gotten had I taken the time to use a stamp platform! Even seasoned stampers make mistakes!

This one I used the 4X6 banner pocket card and trimmed it down so it would mount onto 5.25x4 blue cardstock and mounted it onto white cardstock card base.
I dressed it up with some Mustard Gold Nuvo drops for the banner hooks and Wink of Stella on every other banner for a pop of bling!

I added a sentiment from Concord and 9th Tripe Step Thank you stamp sets and added a few hearts in flirty flamingo and pacific point inks from Stampin’ Up! Created a coordinating envelope because no envelope should go out naked 🤣
