Guest Designing for Last Memories

Welcome to a special edition of Socially Scrappy but on a Sunday. 

Switching up a bit this week and next to accommodate the honour of being a Guest Designer over at Lasting Memories Layout Challenges. Their challenges go live on Sundays. 

Today’s #LM779 challenge is inspired by a choosing two former 2025 challenges that jumped out at me and combining them into one new challenge. So if you want to play along please use inspiration elements from the top sketch as well as choose a tic tac toe line to incorporate into your design for the little extra double the inspiration double the fun. 

I’ve gotten inky with some retired goodies from my stash to play along. Started with a 12x12 sheet of Vicki Boutin Ready to Use Mixed Media paper. Added in Painted Love Gold foil stickers, White Tea Lace doilies, Love Blossoms embellishment kit, scalloped and regular heart punches, wood ephemera sentiment words, unbranded gold twine and a Beager Acrylic Art Paint Pen in Gold. 

For my traditional 12x12 layout I was inspired by the circle vibe from the original sketch so chose a pretty circle paper from my mixed media pack.  I than decided to go for a full card in Tic Tac Toe challenge - so have metal elements in the foil and paper clip, 2 photos, banners, gold, a doily, wood in my hearts and sentiment, a tag, fussy cut the foil elements on the tag and finished off with some vellum in the banner and heart. 

My coordinating pocket page I used the Swirly Bird stamp set to create some 4x3 DSP and pulled in colours Azure Afternoon, Pretty and Pink and Lemon Lolly to coordinate with the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media 12x12 page starter. And pulled in some of the wooden hearts, gold foil and a doily. Left room for 3 photos.

Spending Saturday with Stampin’ Up!

Happy Saturday - taking a break from my scrappy Saturday posting as I am attending all day event with Stampin’ Up! 

I’m excited for the amazing energy that occurs when you enter a room full of creative souls! 

They are having a “decorate your name tag” contest. I HATE wearing name tags so decided to create myself a Name Tag Tierra instead - cause well I’m a queen in my craft room. 🤣

I’ve chosen a Tierra base that reflects my current favourite colour purple, it has feminine florals and butterflies because I love being out in nature with whimsical wings & things. I created my name banner with Alphabet A la Mode dies and stamped two quotes to encapsulate my motto in life “Sharing what I love, Loving what I do” and Live Well, Laugh Often and Love Much” 

The other fun about attending a Stampin’ Up event is getting to engage in SWAPS … you create multiples of the same card design and swap with others so you come home with multiple different card designs, Swaps are a great way to see products you might not have in your stash.

For my swap I am playing with the Festive Friends stamp set, Christmas Words hybrid embossing folder, brayer technique to add Pool Party colour to the embossing folder, 2 circle punches for the focal image elf and a Pool Party border. Some rhinestones and gold twine. 

Isn’t he adorable? A nice simple design that still packs an “awe” punch!

Fingers crossed the other swappers love him too!

Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday. I am loving playing with my favourites from my stash. 

Todays card design was inspired by playing along with the following challenges:

Global Design Project Case the Designer #GDP524 … I have chosen to case the colour palette. I have incorporated Real Red, Powder Pink, Mint Macaroon and Pool Party. 

The design layout inspired from over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #AHSC657.

 

Getting inky with a combo of current and retired stash items. The retired Poinsettia Petals and a retired DSP whose name I forgot to write on it and then current Exposed Brick, Greetings for You ephemera, Traditional Sequins dots and Wink of Stella and Pearl embellishments. 

Love how it came together especially the red pop of poinsettia against the softer colour palette and the texture of the folder and curves of the poinsettia giving additional depth.

Whimsical Wings & Things Wednesday

Welcome to another edition of Whimsical Wings & Things Wednesday. 

Today I am sharing a Shaker card with a little Whimsical Gnome while playing along again with the Color Dare Palette 

Getting inky with retired Snowflake Soirée and an unbranded Gnome stamp set and my Coastal Cabana and Highland Heather colour palette and a snowflake from the Snowflake Kisses die.

Rock N Roll Two Tone Ink Technique

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday. Today we are playing with the Rock N Roll or Two Tone Technique.

My card colour palette was inspired by Color Dare challenge

My sentiment choice was inspired from the Sweet Stampin’ challenge - Birthday prompt in honour of their Sweet 16th Birthday.

I’m getting inky with Stampin’ Up! online exclusive Friendly Foliage bundle, Lasting Linen background stamp and Just Because bundle, the Everyday Arches Dies, rhinestones and unbranded silver twine. 

The Rock N Roll Two tone ink technique is really easy but packs a lovely WOW.

First Ink up your stamp with the lightest colour and then you can add the darker tone for a portion. I have chosen to do a half and half two tone version but you can do a light in middle and darker around edges as well.

Stamp the image and lift it up and then it’s time for the WOW. 🤩 

This is such a pretty colour combo for this  technique. I love how it came together.

Thanks a Latte Monday

Happy Monday! Today’s card design is inspired by the coffee lovers out there! 

Playing along with the Coffee Loving Paper Crafters and their Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge #cccc47. 

As well as Just Us Girls mood board Christmas Latte and Sweets #JUG802

And playing along again with the Colour INKspiration challenge #199 cause it’s a fun combo with Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce and Pecan Pie. 

I’m getting inky with an oldie but a goodie the Sizzix Thanks a Latte Emboss and Cut folder and dies and the Stampin’ Up! Jar of Sweets stamp set, Greetings for You ephemera sentiment and Traditional Christmas Sequins. 

I used the Cherry Cobbler ink and blending brush over the embossed areas and added some red bakers twine and sequins and a popped up sentiment from the Greetings For You ephemera pack. 

Perfect “Thanks A Latte” Christmas card to go with a gift for the coffee and sweet lover! 

Inside of the card decorated with the Jar of Sweets jar and sentiments and fussy cutting the embossing folder for the corners.

Slimline Sunday

Welcome to another edition of Slimline Sunday. 

Todays card design is inspired by the Double Trouble challenge Thing 1,2 and 3 with 3 colours, 2 images and 1 slimline card and the additional prompt to use the letter T and sister site Try a Sketch on Tuesday a slimline sketch #TSOT683.

For my colour palette I am playing along with the last edition of the Color Throwdown #ctd845 I have chosen Old Olive, Darling Duckling and Timid Tiger and a blending brush for my background strip. 

I am sorry to see the design team’s Color challenge journey coming to an end but wish them all the best in their next adventures! 

I’m a getting inky with Stampin’ Up! online exclusives Praire Grass and Friendly Foliage for my “Thinking of you” sentiment. Adding some bling with Holographic Resin dots and some unbranded gold twine.

Fun Fold Friday - Front Flap Postcard

Welcome to another edition of Funky, Fun and Fancy Fold Friday.

Today’s card is from a team meeting - it’s a quick and simple fold. Your base is a postcard size and matted with a co-ordinating colour. You then mount a front flap of DSP that’s folded in half onto a coordinating mat and adhere to base, if desired can add an insert a coordinating solid colour for leaving a written note the front flap or leave your message on back of postcard and use the front flap for additional decorating. Decorate the front of the folded DSP with your sentiment and embellishments.

Throwback Thursday - HO HO HO

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday. Today I am playing with the HO HO HO Stamp set from October 2022 Paper Pumpkin.

I loved this kit and found the stamp set was awesome. The Santa and the reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh combined with so many cute sentiments. Definitely a keeper in my stash! 

It makes cute quick and simple alternatives which is perfect for creating cards to donate to my works Everyday Dreams fund fundraiser. The Santa is really quick and easy to fussy cut. Even had some DSP scraps left from the original kit I was able to make use of. Made use of the retired  ornament punch in one of the designs.
