Wake Up & Create Thursday

Welcome to my Wake Up & Create on Thursday challenge.

It’s a little mix of Throwback Thursday with an image inspiration to use to inspire you to shop your stash and combine some old favourites with new goodies in a new way and than share to inspire others to do the same with their stash! 

Today’s colour palette was inspired by playing along to the Color INKspiration challenge. I had to switch up Petal Pink for the Flirty Flamingo and Misty Moonlight for Night of Navy as I wanted to use the Country Woods DSP and they are close hues.

I’m getting inky with some old favourites in the Just Believe stamp set, the Timber embossing folder and unbranded gold twine paired with the Country Wood DSP, Sincerely Noted mix & match ephemera and 2026-2027 In Color Butterfly’s 

A little Thursday Tip - if your DSP or ephemera doesn’t quite match your over all colour palette you can use blending brush and ink to change the hue a bit. I wanted the sentiment from the Sincerely Noted ephemera to coordinate with the Country Wood DSP so blended it with Petal Pink to change the hue slightly. 

Final design is a lovely sympathy card that will hopefully bring comfort to someone in need.

The gold embossing is so pretty!

Throwback Thursday fun

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday a chance to play with old favourites and new goodies!

Another round of Tic Tac Toe over at the Paper Players almost a full card. I used die cut, twine, sentiment, sparkle, flowers, embossing and layers.

I’m getting inky with retired Happy Birthday to You, Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder, unbranded twine, Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce and Gray Granite blends, rhinestone gems and Wink of Stella.

Technique Tuesday

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday. Today I am sharing a Faux Woodgrain technique I saw on an Instagram reel by @pspapercrafts. 

My colour palette was inspired by playing along to the Color INKSpiration challenge #203 to use Smoky Slate, Azure Afternoon and Balmy blue - a perfect palette for this technique and the country kitchen vibe I wanted to create.

I’m getting inky with the Sunflower 3D embossing folder, Stylish Shapes dies, Smoky Slate ink, Afternoon Azure ink and blinds and Balmy blue ink, rhinestones and unbranded silver twine.

You want to use your scoring board and add score lines down your paper every 1/4 inch to create the wood slat look. You can do the slats vertically or horizontally depending on your design vibe. 

Using the direct to paper technique drag a neutral wood colour across the surface to start - I used Crumb Cake for my first layer and then went over with the Smokey Slate to give the wood a white wash vibe. 

Next you want to emboss the scored paper - if using a folder by Stampin’ Up! with the logo on top you want to Insert the paper with the inked paper face down so that it’s the debossed side once it’s embossed. 

Next use your light colour of choice to drag ink across the debossed side - so I used the Balmy Blue for this step.

Once you have the light colour coverage you desire use a sponge dauber and a darker shade of ink to go in and add any shading desired. I am using the Azure Afternoon here. 

Once you’ve finished adding ink shading and have the look you are happy with you can complete your card design by adding your card front to the mat and base, add a sentiment and any other embellishments you desire. 

Tip - if you don’t have bling in the colour you desire you can colour rhinestones, pearls or white ribbon with an alcohol marker in the colour you want - this is how I created the blue rhinestones for my design. I always keep lots of these stocked as it’s so much easier and saves money on buying a bazillion different embellishments.

Just love the country kitchen vibe this technique gives combined with the sunflower folder - so much I made several cards for different occasions.

Slimline Sunday

Welcome to another edition of Slimline Sunday! 

Today’s slimline design is inspired by a couple challenges. 

The Color INKspiration challenge #201 to to use Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Pretty Peacock and Gold.

The Just Us Girls challenge to use a cover plate which is perfect for these Fragrant Layers dies.  #JUG804.

 

And I adapted the Freshly Made Sketches sketch #717 to be a slimline version.

 

I’m getting inky with the Fragrant Layers bundle, a sentiment from the Coneflower Celebrations, the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder, Triple Banner punch, 

Blending brushes, Gold foil metallic paper, and a few retired gold embellishments and a set of off brand slimline stitched rectangle die cuts from my stash. 

Love the vibrant colour palette - I used the blending brushes to blend the palette colours on the paper behind the floral cover plate. It’s hard to get a good photo of slimline card in my light box being so tall it blocks the light on me.

Slimline Sunday

Welcome to another edition of Slimline Sunday.

Colour palette inspired from over at Color INKspiration. #CI198 Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Very Vanilla.

Sketch inspiration came from CASE-ing Tuesday. I have stretched it to accommodate a slimline design. #CT537

Playing with some current product Delicate Pine Snowflake stamp set, Christmas Words hybrid embossing fold, white embossing powder, Pearl embellishments and a strip of retired DSP.  

Fun “Warmest Winter Wishes” holiday card with some fun texture and sparkle! ✨
