Slimline Sunday

Welcome to another edition of Slimline Sunday.

Today’s card design was inspired by playing along to a couple of challenges.

Double Trouble #211 with their 3, 2, 1 challenge of use at least 3 layers not including the card base so I have a mat of blue, green and white, 2 colours I have yellow, blue and green with a splash of pink for the piggy  and 1 image with my little piggy to go with the Twisted Sister 3 additional challenge to use pigs in the design. Twisted Sister 2 and the additional challenge is to use the Try a Sketch on Tuesday. #TSOT690

My colour palette is thanks to the CAS colours & sketch challenge - #580 I tweaked the shades and used Lemon Lolly, Secret Sea and Old Olive. 

Another round with the Festive Friday St. Patrick’s Day #FF0204 with some green, yellow, green gems and gold twine.

I’m playing with a the Lovely Blossoms DSP, Greetings for All ephemera pack, Modern Oval punch, Secret Sea, Old Olive and Lemon Lolly blends and retired This Little Piggy stamp set, BOHO Chic embossing folder, unbranded gold twine and pearl gems coloured with Old Olive blends. 

Came together as an adorable congratulations card for someone was told they couldn’t do something until pigs could fly 🤣

Technique Tuesday Dryer Sheet Magic

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday - today I am making doing laundry be extra beneficial! Not only clean clothes but a cool WOW for your cards with the Dryer Sheet Magic technique.

My design was also inspired by a couple blog challenges.  First shout out to Festive Friday’s #FF0196 Veterans Day inspo list. I have chosen red, black, watercolour, poppies and sympathy sentiments.

Over at TGIF challenge blog I am playing along with #tgif549 Everything But the Kitchen Sink … so I have lots of layers, texture, bling and several different techniques from blending, water colouring and the dryer sheet magic! I totally love an everything but the kitchen sink designs! 

I’m playing with some of my favourite retired products from my stash! The Painted Poppy stamp set and dies, Peaceful Poppy Elements ephemera package, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Pearl embellishments and the current Everyday Arches dies and Greetings for All ephemera sentiments. 

It’s such a fun way to add extra bling and texture to your card design that packs a WOW. 

So you start by creating your card front so I have stamped an image in Versamark and added black embossing powder and heat set. I watercolored the poppies with Real Red. I used my blending brush and added Old Olive for grass and Balmy Blue for the sky.

Next you want to cover the entire card front with glue - I’ve used Tombow liquid glue and used a sponge to create an even layer over the entire card front. 

While the glue is still wet cover the card front with your used dryer sheet. You want the dryer sheet to be larger than your card front and you don’t need it smooth - the wrinkles help add texture to the effect. Trim off the excess sheet. 

Working while glue is still tacky you want to cover the entire card front with glitter. I am using Dazzling Diamonds from Stampin’ Up! I love using a coffee filter to catch my cast off glitter or embossing powder and funnel back into the container when done. The coffee filter seems to have its own anti static effect.

Photos don’t due the sparkle and texture justice - even the videos not picking up all the shimmer and shine!

The final design is just lovely if I do say so myself. I love poppies, not just for their significance with Veterans Day and both my spouse and stepson having served our country, but they are just beautiful delicate flowers!

WOW Wednesday 🤩

Welcome to another edition of Wow Wednesday - a card design meant to WOW. 

My final card design was also inspired by several challenges I chose to play along with today.

Addicted to CAS for their code word Sweater. #CAS293. Inspired me to pull out my retired Cable Knit embossing folder to lend sweater vibes to my design.

The adorable sketch over at Sunday Stamps blog spot #SSC371 for my 3 Tree layout inspiration.

Festive Friday for their Global Champange Day list of insp. #FF0195. I was inspired by the following prompts: white, metallic thread, sequins, gold foil embossing powder, heat embossing and to do my best to keep my design clean and simple. 

INKspirational word prompt of Seasonal for my Winter tree vibes because with Canadian Thanksgiving behind us the snow will be hot on its Fall tail and Christmas close behind! 

I chose to play with the Pine Tree Trimmings stamp set as I need to prep another card for my upcoming team social next Sunday - I won this stamp set for free from my lovely up-line in exchange for creating at least 5 samples to share with the team for inspiration..

The resulting combo of inspirations resulted in a gorgeous sparkly WOW if I do say myself. Still has lots of clean and simple white space criteria but the sweater embossing gives lots of texture and the gold heat embossing lots of pretty pops of Gold 🤩 My sentiment is from the Greetings from You ephemera with some metallic twine in behind and some gold sequins.

Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday where I challenge myself to pull out an old favourite and get it inky!

Today I was inspired by the focal point scenery in the sketch over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge #AHSC649. 

As well as the Festive Fridays challenge #FF0194 word prompt  challenge and chose the Black, White and you guessed it GLITTER! 

I pulled out my Delicate Forest and Detailed Deer dies and the stunning retired Winter Meadow DSP and finally pushed myself to cut the pretty paper 🤣 I used the Peaceful Pines for the inner sentiment and the Greetings for All ephemera for the card front sentiment. Than added Wink of Stella and rhinestones to bring on the glitter! 

Such a stunning outcome - love the aesthetic of black and white!

You need to really see the card move to catch its glitter effect.

Loved the look so tried it in other coordinating colours from the DSP.

Fancy Folds on a Friday

Welcome to another edition of Fancy Folds on a Friday. Today I am playing with a centre pop up fold.

My design took inspiration from the Festive Friday Challenge - World Cardmaking Challenge #FF0193. I have chosen blue, pink/purple, rhinestones, a fun fold, patterned paper, colouring and a thinking of you “I’m here for you” sentiment from the inspiration list.

I’m playing with my Beautiful Butterflies stamp set and dies with the Watercolour Bokeh DSP the Fresh Freesia and Balmy Blue colour palette with some Frosted Iridescent gems.

The centre pop up was the perfect fold for the butterfly focal image.

I’m always looking for a new fold to try. What’s your favourite fold for cards?
