Fancy Fold Fridays

Welcome to another edition of Fancy Fold Friday - I was introduced to today’s Pull Out & Pop Up fun fold by a team member, Katie Clark, during our monthly Stamp2Cr8 team get together and just had to give it a try!

Im also playing along with Global Design Project #GDP520 Case the Designer. I am using the new Friendly Foliage bundle as my focal in my design as I don’t have the Top Note set the designer used.

Also playing along with Tic Tac Toe challenge #tttc282 - with the top row of leaves, enamel sequins dots and Fun Fold.

A huge shout out to Lisa Curcio for the wonderful tutorial and measurements! She did it so well there is no point in me trying to recreate the wheel so will share it here!

I chose to play with my new preorder of Stampin’ Up! goodies for upcoming Novembers Online exclusives the Friendly Foliage stamp and coordinating dies. I paired with the Traditions of Christmas DSP and Greetings for You ephemera sentiments to create a Christmas card.

I love the new Friendly Foliage bundle knew I had to have it when I saw it on the preorder sneak peek - the final product is just so pretty - lots of texture between the specially DSP paired with the stamped gold embossed image, I used the foliage die cuts in old olive and gold foil and some gold twine and Traditional Sparkling sequins. Love that it’s so versatile for Christmas and will be good for so many other occasions!

Starts out flat to fit in the envelope:

Pull gently:

Pull as it lifts up to pop up

Fully popped - area to write a message and sign your card:

It’s such a fun pop up and surprising easy once you get going! I think next I am going to try a kids birthday card with it and maybe a wobbler on the pop up panel if it won’t be too thick to slide in and out.

Whimsical Wings & Things Wednesday

Welcome to another edition of Whimsical Wings & Things.

Today I am playing with an old favourite Fairy from Stampendous along with the Traditions of Christmas specialty DSP from Stampin’ Up! which is left over from my goodie bag of products I received when I attend the Inspire Create Connect event held by my upline Stamp with Anne this past weekend. The photo doesn’t do this pretty paper justice! The gold that runs through the paper is just divine! The Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder adds some texture to my Secret Sea card front design.

I coloured her hair with Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink for her flesh and her wings and dress are Pool Party with Wink of Stella on the wings for shimmer of whimsy! Some gold twine tucked behind the square of Pool Party and some Traditional Sparkling Sequins embellishments to finish it off.

I just love her - she looks so dainty sitting on the window looking out on the pretty flowers!

Technique Tuesday - Emboss Resist

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday. Today I am playing with Emboss Resist using stamped images.

What you will need is Versamark or other sticky or slow drying ink pad, clear embossing powder, anti static pouncer, a blender brush or sponge dauber, stamp set and inks of your choice.

I am using the Pine Tree Trimmings and Pool Party and Old Olive colour palette and the Traditional Sparkling gem embellishments.

Than you want to take your card front and stamp your images in Versamark, sprinkle with the clear embossing powder and tap off the excess and heat set with a heat gun. Once set you can add in your colour with the blending brush. So I added the Old Olive around the stars to create the soft glow of trees. Once you have the look you like use a Kleenex or Paper Towel and burnish the embossed areas to remove and residual ink and make the white pop.

Finish your card design as desired. I sponged on Pool Party around the top for clouds and then torn a couple pieces of Whisper White paper to create snowbanks along the bottom and covered them with Wink Of Stella for the glistening snow look. Added my sentiment and some embellishments to complete the design.

Making Memories & More on Monday

Welcome to another edition of Making Memories on Monday.

Today I am finishing up a layout from the Inspire Create Connect event I attended over the weekend that featured products from the Traditions of Christmas suite.

I wanted to do it at home because the make n take was using one of the DSP sheets from the Traditions of Christmas DSP as the base and it was just too pretty on the other side to hide it behind a layout so I opted to use a Secret Sea two toned 12x12 instead at home. I stamped it with the Lasting Linen background stamp that is coming to the online exclusive in November with Versamark to give the texture of the DSP in the sample.  I also made my own Christmas word collage for the background layer stamping in Secret Sea.

Layout design not only showcases the Traditions of Christmas DSP but also the Greetings for You ephemera, the sentiment’s and dies from Traditional Labels bundle and the Traditional Sparkling sequins embellishments for the extra bling!

For my coordinating pocket page I carried over the florals from the Traditions of Christmas DSP by fussy cutting them from the DSP as well as the Irresistible Designs DSP.

A hidden gem in the annual catalog. What is so special about the Irresistible Designs 12" x 12" DSP is that it has UV-coated patterns that resist ink, making it perfect for emboss-resist techniques. Just apply ink to it and the pattern pops out. It's the easiest way to get a heat-embossed look—no embossing powder or Heat Tool needed!

I have used the criss cross pattern and inked brayer with Pool party and then used Secret Sea marker to colour in sections of the design. For the floral design I pulled the colours from the Traditions of Christmas DSP Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Pool Party to colour the flowers which I thought looked at lot like the poinsettias. This will hold some 4x6 photos from our past holidays.

Socially Scrappy Saturday

Welcome to another edition of Socially Scrappy Saturday. Getting inky with a double layout of a 12x12 traditional layout and a coordinating pocket page layout.

Today’s layout was inspired by a Sketch I found on Pinterest by Laura Rumble.

I wanted to play with the Christmas Tags & More DSP to show how fun it can be for more than just tags & cards. Which is perfect for the Lasting Memories mood board  challenge #LM773 this week.

I’ve brought out my Large Alphabet dies for my sentiment, The Christmas Words Hybrid Embossing Folder for my Dear Santa cluster and the Traditional Sparkling Sequins and some gold twine for pop and texture.

I love the fun vibe of the triangles reminds me of little elf hats. Plus they are a great way to show off the coordinating paper design in the Christmas Tags & More DSP. The HO HO HO sentiment is cut out in gold foil but the camera didn’t pick it up well. This layout will be perfect for the annual photo with Santa.

Of course I need a pocket page to coordinate with it for the 4x6 photos. I carried over the coordinating triangle design along the 4x4 pockets.

I love the sheet of ephemera that comes with the Christmas Tags & More DSP pack. Great for a little cluster for the Dear Santa sentiment to pop up on my pocket page layout.

Fun Fold Friday

Welcome to another edition of Fun Fold Friday! Today is a Z fold with the Arch focal point on the front.

I’m playing with the Pine Tree Trimmings, Everyday Arches dies and Elegant Pine Snowflake DSP. Gold embossing powder and some gold twine bling!

This fold is so easy too do - you basically take your regular A2 base and score the front panel in half so it folds back on itself. Add you mats and design features as desired!

Cute end design and the fold shows off more of the pretty designer series paper normally hidden behind the arch when matted flat.

You can also use any shape on your front - rectangle and oval look awesome! A star would be great for both holidays and All Star achievements!

I love these little trees! They are perfect for both festive cards but will make great birthday cards for the nature lovers!

Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday where I show some old favourites some inky love!

Today I am playing along with a few challenges to come up with my final design.

Just Us Girls has a Fall Vibes Mood Board #JUG797 for inspiration.

Sketch is from Try a Sketch on Tuesday #TSOT681 and chose at least 2 images of leaves/pumpkins and the ghost and the honeycomb hives emboss and cut are inspired by the sister site Double Trouble challenge Thing 1, 2 and 3.

Colour palette is inspired from the The Card Concept challenge #CC220. I chose Black, Timid Tiger, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and cream.

I’m playing with the retired Vintage Leaves stamp set and dies, Fall Fest stamp set and dies and the sentiment from Dragonfly Dreams stamps, the Hexagon Hive emboss and cut die.

Love that this showcases all my Favourite things about Fall in the design elements - gorgeous colours of leaves (cut from leftovers from playing with Brusho powder on Technique Tuesday), getting my spooky on for Halloween with the little ghost and enjoying all thing’s pumpkin. Perfect combo for a ‘Thank you for the smile’ card for the Fall season!

Whimsical Wings & Things Wednesday

Welcome to Whimsical Wings & Things Wednesday. A chance for me to show some inky love to the fairy stamps in my collection.

Today I am sharing an oldie but a goodie Crystal the Fairy Heathers Stamps Enchanted Hallow series and a sentiment from Stampendous that I have had since I first started stamping back in 2004 and giving her a chance to play with some of my new goodies The Christmas Greetings Mix and Match Specialty cards & envelopes, Cherry Cobbler and Granny Apple Green blends, Gold foil DSP and circle punches.

Isn’t she just adorable? I love the sentiment “A Christmas prayer is winging its way to you.” I have Wink of Stella on her wings plus over the snow under her feet for some glittery magic and the gold foil in the paper and behind my card front and the sentiment helps create a dance of golden rainbow as light reflects from it … so pretty in person.

Technique Tuesday - Playing with Brusho

Welcome to another edition of Technique Tuesday. Today I am sharing the magic of Brusho Powder Watercolour Medium.

My card layout was inspired by the Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge sketch challenge #SUO387. This is a quick and fun sketch that I will definitely reuse.

My colour palette was inspired by the AAA Colourful Colour themed Challenges the colour board #21 as was making me think about pulling out my Brusho - hope that one day the bring it back over at Stampin’ Up!

I’m playing with the Pine Tree Trimmings stamp set, Exposed Brick Embossing Folder, Granny Apple Green, Real Red and Misty Moonlight.

If you haven’t played with Brusho it’s SO fun! You need the following - Stampin’ Up’ is no longer selling Brusho but you can get it on Amazon and other craft stores.

Here’s a little video demo so you can see the Magic unfold.

Mixed Media mediums like Brusho are a great crafty therapy tool. You have to give up a little control, relax and just play and trust the process to let it come together.

Love how the final design came together for a cute little Christmas card.
