Throwback Thursday!

Having some fun over in the Scrapbook Nerd & Friends group on Facebook today in preparation for the weekend of crafty time!

This was one of my layouts from my first ever crop at the Scrap & Crop weekend retreats   at the Festival Inn in Stratford - I used a sketch from Pinterest to help get me inspired and love how it turned out - the little grids are a great way to show a sampling of papers and use up scraps!

Does anyone else have a photo of themself sitting on the toilet that their parents took - the good ole days when parents use to try to toilet train at like 14 months old by putting you on the thing every 10 minutes for a half hour thinking that was being trained!

Like you can even see my moms hand with a cup trying to force me to drink more fluids in order to get me to pee - hate to break it to you mum but it was YOU who were toilet trained at this stage in my life not ME!

Scrapbook Nerd 'Stash busting' Online Crop Recipe Challenge

Margaret here guest designing for the Scrapbook Nerds

This week we are having an online scrapbook stash busting crop - come join us over on Facebook for a chance to play along and use up some of your crafty stash and enter challenges for a chance to win FREE STUFF!

This is my recipe challenge ....hope you are inspired to play along!

I had fun playing with the Ernest and Zelie Gnomes from Carabelle and coloring them with my Blends markers from Stampin' Up! They make coloring a breeze!

You can create such a fun background layer using the new oxide sprays from Tim Holtz ... mixed media so much fun! I than embossed it with a retired brick embossing folder. Added some bling with a Wink of Stella  and added some cute little star embellishments from my sequins stash.

Finally I created a custom 'Gnome School's Cool' sentiment from my retired stash stamp set Skinny Miny Letters from Stampin' Up! I love alphabet stamp sets they are perfect for making custom sentiments! I have the Pink Fresh Adore alpha on my wishlist!

Ornate Garden Scrapbook layout

Having fun with some scrapbook challenges over on Facebook with at Scrapbook Nerd -
if you have not already please come join us Scrapbook Nerds - Friends Group for some crafty inspiration and fun!

My first page I had created as part of the March Layout tag ... if you have not played Layout tag you MUST come join us - it is so much fun!  The premise is that you form a group of people who want to participate in the game. The organizer sends the first person in the group a private message to tag them with a layout as inspiration to create their own with. They have 3 days to complete their project take a photo of it and return the photo to the organizer privately. She passes or 'tags' the next person with that photo as inspiration and it moves on each person getting tagged privately with the last persons inspiration. When everyone has been 'tagged' and had a turn to play with the person before thems photo inspiration than the organizer 'reveals' the tag layout progression ... it is AWESOME to watch how the layouts progress through each persons interpretation and inspiration of the layout they were given!

I used the Ornate Garden Suite from Stampin' Up ... the DSP is just gorgeous with the copper embossing threaded through the designs on several of the papers and well look at the imagery in the stamp set and the intricate dies! I had a blast coloring with the Stampin' Blends!

ORNATE GARDEN SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER ORNATE STYLE BUNDLE

I paired it with the Beauty Abounds and the Prose Alphabet dies .

Beauty Abounds Cling Stamp Set HAND-LETTERED PROSE DIES

I did sneak some retired fun in there too ... the Grapefruit Grover Foil paper from last years Sale-abration from my stash goes perfectly with this suite - I really wish they would bring that one back! It looks amazing with the Ornate Embossing Folder

Queen of Hearts CASO Crop fun!

Had an amazing time today at the Queen of Hearts Crops fundraiser for CASO station!

As a vendor I had a lovely place to set up my goodies to showcase Stampin' Up! As well as a second table from which to 'destash ' some of my retired product that was looking for a new home to be loved in to make room for some newer product for me to play with!

My $5 Blow Out sale table was a huge hit - between the selling off of retired merchandise, scrapbook kit sales and orders I was able to donate 10% from those sales and helped to raise an additional $63.00 for the CASO station!

In the Welcome bags I sponsored I had played a little contest game with the croppers that the first 3 people to bring up a complete project showcasing a few of the retired items I had shared in their package would win a prize!

Jas was the first completed page - and she won our lovely Honey Bee DSP from the Sale-abration catalog.

Our next winner, if my aging memory serves, was Connie and she won the Lily Pads DSP
The final entry from Anne offered the first double layout option and so she was awarded the Lady Bug Hostess set for her entry plus she even used her pillow box, ribbon and tag from the welcome kit!
We also had two close contenders hot on the first threes tail with a card entry and a lovely single page layout!  My apologies I did not write down your names and now I am drawing a blank - however they were both lovely uses of the welcome kits contents!

Part of the festivities included Make N Take classes ... I introduced the croppers to the benefits of the card kits from Stampin' Up!

 black and white card kit

The Lots of Happy Card kit is a great kit for both new and avid stamps a like! Comes with 5 card designs and enough materials to make 4 of each card design. Or you can dissect your kit as I did and use some of the materials to make scrapbook layouts or alternative projects!

 black and white card kit

All 24 slots for the make n take were snatched up which made my heart so very happy! Everyone had lots of fun colouring the floral imagery! Water colouring with pencils and our blender pens is so relaxing! Stampin' and putting together the cards were a nice quick and simple process and I loved how some of the ladies were able to think outside the box and create cards with their own flare!

To add to the fun of the event I had hidden a 'winner' ticket inside the catalog in the Welcome kits and congrats to the lovely Heather for being the first and only person to find a winner ticket ... we ended up drawing names for the other two since no one had come forward to claim them!

For those out of town who were wanting to create an online order to support the fundraiser please shop my online store www.totallyawake4.stampinup.net and use the following hostess code below before February 29th. Thank you

Thanks for a great day to all!

Paper Pumpkin Outside the Box cards

Two cute cards created from 1 card base and a couple kit embellishments from January's 'Bee Ours' Paper Pumpkin kit.

I used the Heart pack punch duo to punch the two  hearts from the centre of the front and back of the 3x3 card base and than used my mini paper cutter to carefully cut the two parts of base apart along the crease and than shaved off a wee bit from the white side of base to create two different layered looks for the cards!

Than I used the mint macaroon and coordinating rose rococo inks to stamp images from stamp set. Plus the Blends are perfect for colouring rhinestones to create coordinating gems for any project 💕

I also reused my Hey, Friend sentiment stamp set from the Something for Everything December Kit - the Paper Pumpkin kits can be used over and over again and are a great way to build your stamp collection!

Current Paper Pumpkin subscribers are invited to bring their kits along come play with their box at January’s kit class ... those wanting to check out Paper Pumpkin without the subscription are invited to come play with one of my kits - check out the event page on my website for more class details!

'Bee Ours' January Paper Pumpkin Kit

Playing with the January Paper Pumpkin Kit “Bee Ours” ... love the fun colour palette of Crushed Curry, Highland Heather, Mint Macaroon and Rococo Rose!

The treat bags are perfect to house gift cards, hot chocolate packs, a couple of your favourite tea bags or for the paper crafter lovers some embellishments! Perfect for Valentines but also for treat bags for birthday, bridal or baby showers as well or just because random acts of kindness in someone’s lunch box or desk!

The stamp set is just adorable for many occasions and I have lots of outside the box design ideas dancing through my head to make next!!! The fact that this kit coordinates with the Heart Punch pack plus the little Bee stamps and sentiment beg for the  Golden Honey DSP from Saleabration lends to LOTS of possibilities for projects 💕💕💕

I will be using inspirations from this kit at this months Stamp a Stack to help show customers how much fun it is to play with the Paper Pumpkin subscription kits!

Peaceful Poppy inspired layout

2020 crating goal is to stop neglecting my scrapbooking so joined a cropping group on Facebook called Scrapbooking Global - Stampin' Up!  that’s specific to Stampin’ Up! They have monthly challenges and lots of layout inspirations!
Inspired me to get busy this weekend - so this is my layout from the January 2020 challenge inspiration layout. I reoriented a bit to be able to see the most of the gorgeous Peaceful Poppy DSP ... I shamefully admit that I rarely journal on the actual front part of the layout and am more the type to hide my journal in a pocket behind so I didn’t add that feature and left the space for the poppy’s to show through 💕

I still need to print my photos - I tend to wait until I have a layout all done and then print the photos to fit the mats plus sharing them photo free will hopefully help you to imagine how gorgeous your own photos would look on those mats ... shameless marketing or lazy scrapbooked you decide 🤣

Seriously if you have not checked out the Peaceful Poppy suite yet hop on over to my website and check it out - it’s SO STUNNING! Makes pulling together projects so easy!
